Bombay Connection is an Amsterdam-based label specializing mostly in reissuing the music of Bollywood, India’s harmonically-rich film industry. Light in the Attic distributes Bombay Connection’s titles in the U.S., and we have thus far been blown away by the quality of the releases we’ve received from our Dutch brethren. A recent addition to our catalog is The Bombay Connection: Funk From Bollywood Action Thrillers 1977-1984, which, as the title suggests, is a compilation of funk songs from Bollywood action movies. The selections found on this collection are unique, heavy and hard-hitting. Here’s Bombay Connection’s description of its title:

Following the example of Hollywood, many Indian action films of the 1970s and ’80s were scored with a frantically funky sound made for chase scenes. Bollywood being Bollywood, the songs were given an unmistakable Indian twist, resulting in stunningly original grooves that will set any dance floor on fire. Featuring songs from such films as Bombay 405 Miles, as well as rare gems from the safari film Habari and the black comedy Salaam Memsaab.”
