Light In The Attic Road Trip 2012: UPDATE! We Need YOU In The Van!!!

Wednesday, September 19th, 2012

UPDATE: Matt Snodgrass, the winner of the LITA Road Trip “Win A Seat In The Van” Free Basin’ Friday, flew into Seattle late last night and unfortunately this morning he had a family emergency come up and won’t be able to go on this epic journey with us. We are hugely bummed about this but understand that family things come up. Be well Matt and we’ll see you again soon!

So, we went back to the submissions and found a willing candidate but he can only do a part of the journey. Ahhh! So, here’s an idea. YOU: dweller of the great city of Portland (or surounding area). US: A road trip-crazed record label from Seattle. THE PLAN: Hop in the van with us on Friday morning in PDX and go on an awesome weekend record bender with us all the way to San Francisco!

The long and short of it is: We will provide room and board, a seat in the LITA van, $50 bucks a day to spend on records, a flight back from SF -> PDX on Monday night, and a lifetime of memories. Yes, all of these can be yours! For your chance to win a seat in the van, briefly tell us in a comment below why you want to be on this four day journey with us. Be sure to include your name and email in the email/name fields (this is not shown) so that we can contact you. And remember, you must be able to meet us Friday morning in Portland! We will contact the winner tomorrow, Thursday 9/20 at 7pm!

The open road calls…we hope to see you out there soon!

Well I’m a big music fan…and I’ve had no money for records
this sounds like a groovy time

  2. Joseph R. says:

  3. Fibber McGee says:

You forget to add “needs a clean license”.

i really really really wanna do this! i bought the shin joong hyun album from LITA when it was released and have been listening to sixto non-stop since the documentary came out. went all the way to seoul to find shin joong hyun records and couldn’t find one, so i couldn’t believe LITA put one out. also been dying to go on a road trip! i promise i’m low-maintenance and will make you laugh!

  5. Kaley says:

Shit, I entered this contest and am still more than willing to ride for any part of the ride. All the best, Matt.

  6. James says:

I’ve been hooked on LITA since Black Angels Passover. The Monks, Lee Hazlewood, and Betty Davis releases may be my three deserted island records. I want to find more secrets of music past and live for the road. I play music all over and being with LITA on this trip would be a whole new kind of trip. Remember, never get ff the bus. I’m young, take care of myself, and know how to live on the road.

  7. Andrew says:

I’m working my way, or trying to, into the music industry. I play in a band, book shows, and trying to startup a label toputout records and learn that side ofthe business. A couple days on the road would be great seeing a label in action. Help someone who’s trying to help music out and bring me with.
    Thanks, Andrew

  8. Jessie says:

    PICK ME!
I live in Portland, and I love Light In The Attic! I listen to Satan Is Real once a week (instead of church) and I believe Jim Sullivan is touring on Jupiter right now!

Let’s hit the road! Ass, cash, or grass!

    -Jessie

Going on a road trip to San Francisco with amazing people and visiting cool record stores along the way would be an absolute dream come true! I imagine singing songs in the van like the scene in Almost Famous where everyone sings “Tiny Dancer,” after that crazy house party. How memorable it would be! What an amazing opportunity for anyone who loves road trips and music. I would be honored to go along for the ride. I would try to make Matt proud and offer to grab some of his favorite records for him. I’m hoping he and his family are well. Thank you so much for the opportunity, Light in the Attic! You rock!

  10. Melissa says:

I have a long (er…as long as someone in their late 20s can be) history of production stuff so can make myself super useful as needed. I also have this dream of resurrecting the music documentary from the deep dark pit VH1 has cast it into. A super rad road trip with a wicked cool band sounds like my kind of heaven!

  11. Matt says:

I would love to go on this road trip… sounds awesome! I’m a 36 year old mid-westerner living in Portland. I build/repair guitars/FX pedals for a living. I’ve worked in record stores since I was 17. Love all sorts of music. I have a driver’s license. I’m easy to get along with. I don’t have weird food requirements.

I’d also love to see my two cousins in SF. So please, make my weekend!

  12. I’d take that extra seat and a weekend with LITA in heartbeat. Just saw Searching For Sugar Man and can’t wait to see Rodriguez next month, this trip sounds like a dream. Such a fan of so many LITA artists, can’t imagine my summers by the campfire without ‘em. I live in Portland and I would love to go!

  13. Joe says:

I was laid off from my job a little while ago and can think of nothing more uplifting than going on a road trip with one of my favorite record labels! Plus, I’d like to shake the hands of the people who turned me on to the Monks and Rodriquez!
