Just in from Vadim Music: Janko Nilovic “Funky Tramway” and Jean-Claude Pelletier “Streaking”

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

Our friends at Vadim Music do it again with two great new reissues. Just in this week are two super rare titles: Janko Nilovic’s Funky Tramway and Jean-Claude Pelletier’s Streaking!

Doted with a great reputation and very stable value in the often fluctuating rare groove market, Funky Tramway is often considered to be one of the rarest and most well developed of Janko Nilovic’s records, easily rivalling his famous cult album Rythmes Contemporains (which is already sold out). And yet, apart from a few already compiled tracks and enthused descriptions on the web from lucky record hunters here and there, little was actually known about this opus which only made its way into the hands of lucky few collectors. Deluxe CD and LP reissue, so there’s no excuse!

Jean-Claude Pelletier’s Streaking is a mythical record. It’s a reference constantly name-checked by world-funk circles of record hunters, producers and collectors who consider it an incredible funk inferno, bursting with colossal breaks and vintage grooves. A somewhat perfect hybrid of American soul’s energy and the science of French pop. Finally reissued on CD and LP, this is bound to sell out so don’t sleep!
