THE SATURDAY KNIGHTS ON THE XLR8R MIXTAPE/NEW MYSPACE SONGS

Monday, June 16th, 2008

TSK = The Saturday Knights, a trio of fun-lovin’ brojandros who just want to get your head bobbin’ and walk a few, er, dogs.

XLR8R = horribly named urban magazine, continuously hyping the hottest new bands … or something.

TSK + XLR8R = magic.  Pure, unfiltered magic.

It’s a pretty complicated equation, we know, but lucky for you, and lucky for us, and lucky for all the happy-go-lucky subscribers of XLR8R, this magical mathematical moment has come to fruition.  Pick up the newest edition of XLR8R and included on the always impressive monthly mixtape will be our own The Saturday Knights’ “Foreign Affair”, along with numerous handfuls of other impressive new bands

If you don’t get XLR8R or are too broke to snatch one from your local grocery store, the good men of TSK have posted two new songs “Dog Park” and “Foreign Affair” over at their Myspace page.  So, put down the newest issue of Mr. Paddywhacks and head on over to HERE to check out these fantastic new songs.

CMJ LOVES LIGHT IN THE ATTIC!

Friday, June 20th, 2008

CMJ, College Music Journal for your aging heathens, is a pretty big deal.  Fledgling college DJs across the nation toil each week over their CMJ Top Spin Playlist, to help show the youngins’ of America just what in the hell drunken co-eds are bumping in their dingy basements.  If you’re in college, and you like music, you’re probably somewhat influenced by the machinations of the creaking machine that is CMJ.

Thus, we’re pretty shit-eating-grin happy to report two fantastic CMJ-related news bits:

1.  The Black Angels, oh you sweet sweet dark angels and your Directions To See A Ghost, reached #13 on the national CMJ charts.  That means that only 12 other bands stand between us and the coveted numero uno.  We’ve sent out assassins and envelopes full of money, so we’ll tell you how it goes.

2.  The Saturday Knights, whom are about to explode all over America like a ripe tomato when their album Mingle drops on down, next Tuesday the 24th, had the number one most added album for the week.  Not the second most, not the third most, no no, THE MOST ADDED ALBUM FOR THE WEEK ALL ACROSS THIS MERRY LITTLE GLOBE.

Phew.  Being this excited about something tends to make our hearts palpitate strangely.

Weeeeeeeeeee.

THE SATURDAY KNIGHTS, NEW ALBUM, LIVE SHOWS, STREAMING LISTENING PARTY

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

There are big weeks, there are gigantic weeks, and there are absolutely fucking humongous weeks.

And The Saturday Knights are about to have an absolutely fucking humongous week.  Why you may ask?

1.  Tomorrow, June 24th (there’s something else going on that night too…) The Saturday Knights will drop their absolutely amazing debut LP, Mingle (featuring the likes of famed Nirvana producer Jack Endino, Kim Thayil of Soundgarden, The Dap-Kings, The Muscle Shoal Horns).  It’s a huge, fun album that breaks genre boundaries while consistenly plastering a shit-eating smile on your face.  It’ll be the Seattle summer record of the year – no doubt in our minds.  You can pre-order it right here.

2.  If you’re interested in checking out the album before purchasing (though you can trust us on this one) two of our favorite blogs, KEXP and My Old Kentucky Blog will be co-hosting a streaming listening party for the album.  Each blog will stream one half of this dynamic video, as well as present for the first time ever, the amazing video for “’45″ (featuring Jack Endino on drums).  Again, tomorrow this amazing blogs will be giving you a chance to hear the album for the first time, well, ever.

Those websites are:

You need to check this out!

3.  Tomorrow, June 24th (we said it was a huge week, didn’t we?) The Saturday Knights will be opening for the world famous Wu-Tang giant, The RZA at Showbox SODO.  Though this could be construed as cool enough, TSK has brought together a large group of talented musicians (including members of Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground and Wild Orchid Children) to form an eleven piece back-up band featuring singers, guitarists, bassists, and a huge horn section.  It will be magical and you do not want to miss it.

4.  But if you must, then you can’t miss Friday’s CD release party at Nectar.  Not only will The Saturday Knights be performing their second show with a full eleven-piece band, but the world famous Budos Band will be opening for them.  Yup, The Saturday Knights, an eleven piece band, and a performance by The Budos Band – this show is going to be legendary.

So their you go, you want The Saturday Knights?  You got the fucking Saturday Knights.

VIDEO EXPLOSION PART 1: THE SATURDAY KNIGHTS’ “ASS KICKERS’ HAIRCUT”

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

The Saturday Knights have an affect on people where upon listening to “Ass Kickers Haircut” they involuntarily start acting like freelance Marines.  Holding imaginary guns, tromping through department stores, generally just acting like lunatics.  Seriously, we have video proof:

The Saturday Knights – "Ass Kicker's Haircut"

Told ya, be careful with this TSK shit, it’s potent.

That video comes to you from the impeccable smiles of Evil Bunny Films.
