One Cool Cat - Overton Berry

Last week in anticipation of our latest release–Overton Berry Ensemble T.O.B.E. / At Seattle’s Doubletree Innwe thought it would be great to sit down with the man himself, Overton Berry, and get the back story on these two legendary Seattle soul/jazz/funk albums. And who would we ask to be the interviewer but T.O.B.E. / At Seattle’s Doubletree Inn liner notes writer Kurt B. Reighley.

Presented in two parts, this week Kurt and Overton discuss the landmark 1972 studio album T.O.B.E.. The 40 minute interview goes in-depth into the making of the album and features cuts from the album. Make sure to check back next week for part two! Special thanks go out to producer/engineer extrodinaire Steve Fisk (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Low) for taking the time to tape the interviews and snap some photos!

Overton Berry Trio circa 1970.

Recently in anticipation of our latest release–Overton Berry Ensemble T.O.B.E. / At Seattle’s Doubletree Inn–we thought it would be great to sit down with the man himself, Overton Berry, and get the back story on these two legendary Seattle soul/jazz/funk albums. And who would we ask to be the interviewer but T.O.B.E. / At Seattle’s Doubletree Inn liner notes writer Kurt B. Reighley.

We posted Part One of the interview last week where Kurt and Overton discussed the landmark 1972 studio album T.O.B.E.. For Part Two this week they dig into the legendary 1970 live album  At Seattle’s Doubletree Inn.  Special thanks go out to producer/engineer extrodinaire Steve Fisk (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Low) for taking the time to tape the interviews and snap some photos!

Just got in the office this week the proof for the next Light In The Attic zine! We’re up to number three at this point and they’re still a blast to put together. In this issue we have features on on our forth coming Shin Joong Hyun (dig the awesome cover art!) and Mowest anthologies, liner-notes spotlight on Michael Chapman, The Overton Berry Ensemble, some great interviews with the Winter’s Bone soundtrack star Marideth Sisco and score composer Dickon Hinchliffe, and a ton more.

This is hitting the press next week and we hope to have copies in stock at some stores for Record Store Day 2011.

As always, it’s FREEEEEEEEEE!
