FINALLY JEWISH AMERICAN POP IS GETTING IT’S HEYDAY

Check out what the Idelsohn Society has been digging up recently:

Yup, this sweet little society dedicated to the preservation of Jewish American pop has unearthed this little gem featuring the likes of Ray Barretto, Willie Rodriguez, Charlie Palmieri, Clark Terry, and Doc Cheatham.  Don’t fret, fellow lovers of the ‘Brews and their pop delights, The Idelsohn Society has licensed the amazing goodness of the entire Riverside catalog.

In the words of David Katznelson, co-founder of this fascinating group:

“The ability to rescue a certain strain of releases from the label that brought us Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, John Coltrane is immense for us and highlights our overall mission.  I am so thankful that we have found these recordings and the folks at Riverside/Concord (Concord owns the catalog) have been so generous to let us bring them to the public’s eye.”

Mazel tov indeed.
