Free Basin’ Friday | Michael Chapman | “Wrecked Again”

It’s Friday finally, time for some good ole’ Free Basin’! This week we will be picking two winners. The first winner will receive an exclusive advance copy of our forthcoming release of Michael Chapman’s Wrecked Again. This doesn’t come out in stores until next week, but here’s your chance to win a copy now! You will have a choice between a CD or a limited edition vinyl on red wax.

Recorded at the noted Rockfield Studio, Wrecked Again explores orchestration via Paul Buckmaster (Miles Davis, David Bowie) and The London Symphony Orchestra and production courtesy of Gus Dudgeon (Elton John, Bonzo Dog Band), but also explores a new sound influenced by Memphis soul. With a blend of electric and acoustic instruments, Chapman is found where he feels most comfortable: in-between folk and rock, contrasting soft with edgy. Wrecked Again was a pivotal moment in Chapman’s career; the tipping point between his earlier, folkier material and his later, rockier output on Deram. Although the album was buried in EMI’s release schedule and afforded no promotional budget, Wrecked Again is Chapman’s lost classic.

The second winner will receive a pair of tickets to Michael Chapman’s Wrecked Again release party July 4th at Fairfield Halls, Park Lane, Coydon. The event is an unique two-set concert. Chapman will be joined in the second set by guests BJ Cole and Sarah Smout to perform a selection of tracks from Wrecked Again, including “Shuffleboat River Farewell”, rearranged for guitar, vocal, pedal steel and cello. Also, please indicate within your comment which prize you would like to receive. Do not forget to included your email address in the box provided, all addresses will be visible to Light In The Attic employees ONLY.
