Free Basin’ Friday | Seefeel – “Quique” | 2xLP on BLUE WAX!

It’s the end of the work week and time for yet another Free Basin’ Friday giveaway! This week’s prize is a copy of our forthcoming release of Seefeel – Quique on BLUE WAX!

Marking the 20th anniversary of Seefeel’s debut full-length Quique, our imprint Modern Classics Recordings is combining forces with Medical Records to do a first ever vinyl reissue! Seefeel, like their contemporaries Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine and Aphex Twin, embodied an entirely new and unique sound. Originally released in 1993 via the UK label Too Pure, Quique’s most striking quality was its sheer sense of invention – and the fact it was instrumental except for wordless vocals from singer/guitarist Sarah Peacock, lying low in the mix and treated as another instrument. The album is a dreamy confluence of dub, abstract electronic music and minimalist composition techniques, and remains a touchstone record in the ambient and shoegaze movements.

Seefeel’s Quique has remained a touchstone record in the ambient/shoegaze movements, in part because of its innovative and unique sound which allows the album to continually stay relevant and fresh. For your chance to this week’s giveaway, name an album that you believe has remained innovative and unique, and explain why. Please provide your answer in the comment box below. Do not forget to included your email address in the box provided. Winners will be announced next Friday via Twitter and Facebook.
