Jamaica To Toronto Reunion Concert A Success

Light In The Attic Records was happy to party with nearly five thousand soul-funk-reggae fans in Toronto at the Harbourfront Centre, as the “Jamaica to Toronto” reunion concert drew a bigger crowd than the cavernous venue has ever seen. This historical event marked the musicians first live performance together in over 35 years.

We got a lot of copies of Jamaica to Toronto: Soul Funk & Reggae into the eager hands of many Canadian music fans, and here are some great photos of the event:

We here at LITA have been blown away by the press for this release, three years in the making (taking the rest of our lives to enjoy it, iree). Here’s a funky taste of some recent Canadian coverage:

“The best Canuck shit since Rick James got his freak on with Sir Neil Young” – Vue Weekly

> TORONTO STAR – Feature: 5/5 STARS

> THE GLOBE & MAIL

> NOW TORONTO – COVER STORY And the album debuted at #4 on the Canadian College Charts.

The media response has been encouraging not only in Canada but across the globe as well: The Wall Street Journal, MOJO, The Fader, XLR8R, Seattle Sound, San Fransisco Weekly, UNCUT.

Jay Douglas, Lloyd Delpratt, Everton ‘Pablo’ Paul and several other artists appeared on CBCBreakfast TV before the event for a live performance.

And we even made it onto Pitchfork!

We’d also like to announce the construction of the new JATDOT MYSPACE page, by our super-heroine intern Alexa!:

Meanwhile, in further LITA news, Estey cleaned the bathroom at the offices the week of the event, before it got too hot that weekend. Now the gals don’t have to use the one upstairs!
