New LITA Releases | Johnnie Frierson & Lee Moses!

Two awesome new releases for your listening pleasure! Both soul: one lo-fi gospel album from Memphis, and one funky electric from Atlanta.

Johnnie Frierson

We are proud to present to you our newest reissue: a transcendent album of home-recorded gospel-soul tunes by Johnnie Frierson, brother of Stax legend Wendy Rene. Previously self-released on cassette only, Have You Been Good To Yourself is an intimate moment in lo-fi soul history.

Listen to one of our favorite tracks from the album, “Heavenly Father, You’ve Been Good” here:

Have You Been Good To Yourself is now up for preorder on vinyl, CD, and digital and will be available for immediate purchase August 19th, 2016.

Light In The Attic’s latest reissue is an album of southern soul from Atlanta multi-instrumentalist Lee Moses. He played beside legends such as Hendrix and Gladys Knight, but like so many, faded into obscurity after being snaked by the industry. One such instance of industry shade was when Moses’ producer put out a posthumous Hendrix album that deceptively passed off Moses’ handiwork as unreleased Hendrix — all apparently behind Moses’ back. Despite all this, Time And Place (’71) remains a nugget of highly-sought-after soul gold from a deeply talented enigma.
