Pitchfork TV presents: Light In The Attic Road Trip 2013
We’re excited to announce our sixth annual road trip, the East Coast edition, which will be aired as 6 video episodes on Pitchfork TV starting October 11th, 2013.
Sixty years ago, crafty salesmen hocked fresh pressed vinyl 45s from the trunks of their dinged Buicks, building hit records one hard-won sale at a time. Today, there is little left of the intensely personal and colorful record business of yesterday, however it still does indeed exist. We have spent the last decade building a catalog of new and rediscovered music, including artists like Rodriguez, Serge Gainsbourg, Karen Dalton, PiL, Lee Hazlewood, D’Angelo, Roky Erickson, and more. This October, we will hit the road for our annual pilgrimage: The Light In The Attic Road Trip. Embarking from the Northeastern U.S., we will set out on a journey across America to sling records and meet the people, while each day documenting the trip live — as it unfolds.
Hosted by our very own Jon Treneff and Lydia Hyslop, the trip will cruise across the United States, hitting up record shops, along with contemporary and legendary artists (including Bradford Cox, Dennis Coffey, Father John Misty, members of Big Star, Animal Collective, Seefeel, labels (Stax, DFA, Third Man), and recording studios in such cities as Brooklyn, Detroit, Chicago, New York, Washington DC, Atlanta, Memphis, Nashville and Louisville.
Last year’s journey hit 58 record stores in just 12 days from Seattle to southern California and back. We are ready to slay it again.
Below are the tour dates so stop by your local record store and say hello.
