It is a great week for our favorite Detroit musician, the one, the only Sixto Rodriguez, what with his opening slot with Animal Collective this evening and, now, this. Rodriguez will be laying down a session at the hallowed Daytrotter Studios in Rock Island, Illinois, and that alone should be enough to wet the driest of whistles.
But, BUT, following, what should be a beautiful studio performance, our man Rodriguez will head down the stairs to the equally legendary Huckleberry’s Pizza Parlor to play a live performance for a very lucky crowd. You slowpokes who are missing out on the Animal Collective/Rodriguez spectacle tonight, well, this is your chance to take a nice little road trip (the show’s at 9 so their should be plenty of time for a post-work jaunt) and see a true unheralded legend.
This is a space that in the past has hosted Vampire Weekend, Ra Ra Riot, The Virgins, Bon Iver, The War On Drugs, The Broken West, Amos Lee, Shelley Short, High Places, Catfish Haven and a many more.
Tickets are only 10 dollars and you can pick them up right HERE or reserve tickets by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Stay tuned for news about when Rodriguez’s Daytrotter session is ready for your perusal.
