Snakegrinder – Snakegrinder and the Shredded Fieldmice | Private Press Psychedelic Jazz Rock

Almost every American suburb in the 70’s that had a steady supply of weed and electricity provided a breeding ground for bands influenced by the likes of Jerry Garcia and Lowell George. Delaware’s Snakegrinder was a product of this type of “homegrown” environment. The group recorded one privately pressed record, Snakegrinder and the Shredded Fieldmice, in 1977 for the local admirers, and then quietly slithered away. The album featured seven tracks that combined acoustic, electric and pedal steel guitars augmented by a funky bass and a tasty keyboard. The overall sound of Snakegrinder and the Shredded Fieldmice is progressive, unique and well-structured.

Since the album’s original release, it has garnered accolades from the Acid Archives crowd and so the good people at Lion Production have taken it upon themselves to give the group solo album a proper reissue. Lion Production’s forthcoming reissue of Snakegrinder and the Shredded Fieldmice is 100% legally licensed from the original mastertapes and housed in a old-style gatefold sleeve containing pics, gig posters, song lyrics and liner notes by producer and long-time fan, Gregor Alligator.
